Improving the health & wellbeing of our community
Firstly, we would like to thank our friends, families, members and regular customers that have sent us kind words of support throughout the lockdown period. It has been a very difficult time for all businesses and we along with other organisations have had to make very hard and challenging decisions. As a charity we operate large leisure facilities with small reserves, reinvesting back into services locally.
Over 300 of our staff were furloughed over the closure period to protect their income and the Trust’s position. Just a handful of 12 or so core staff remained, all of whom have worked tirelessly to secure all available support to the Trust, ensuring we remained in a good position until we could reopen our community facilities again.
We welcome the government announcement that all indoor fitness and swimming facilities can start to reopen from 25th July.
COVID safety plans and risk assessments have been developed to protect staff and customer at all times and our teams will now start to prepare for our phased reopening.
Specific plans, signage and protocols will be further developed for each site over the coming weeks with staff returning to invite you back into our facilities as soon as we can. There will be some significant changes to how you use our facilities, including pre booking, one-way systems and a phased return of activities. Our priority in everything we do is keeping staff and customers safe, whilst providing the same level of service you expect from us.
We will communicate with you directly via our member app, social media and other platforms regarding specific reopening plans, timelines and processes for each facility over the coming weeks.
Please continue to bear with us as staffing will be minimal through to our reopening, as we begin to understand fully new behaviors and customer’s needs.
We will be in touch but until then, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.
