Brian Gallagher Football Fund
THE BRIAN GALLAGHER FOOTBALL FUND was set up not only to recognise the work Brian did with Grassroots Football, but also to support organisations in Lowestoft who work with children below the age of 16. The funding applications must show how the funding will assist in the provision of grassroots football in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their condition of life.
Lowestoft Ogogo
Lowestoft O-go-go has shown that key to success is finding out what people want from sport & what is stopping them from getting involved, before designing an offer that’s appealing, accessible & secures their long-term involvement.
We aim to show individuals that sport & physical activity can be informal, fun & social & demonstrate how it can be incorporated into people’s everyday lives. We will offer support, choice & opportunity for regular ongoing participation. The innovative programme will take traditional & non-traditional activities to non-traditional venues to show that participation is open to everyone.
Train to Help Re-Train
As leading charity in the area we want to focus on three key aspects:
Mental health
Re-Training / supporting people locally to develop new skills and knowledge to aid in progressing to the work market.
Supporting people to help them live a more active lifestyle.
How it works for young people (aged 16-24)
We believe passionately that young people need to be given the chance to build experience (values etc). Now more than ever they just need a break and something to be positive about. With this in mind we will open our doors and for the next 9 months to enable young people to deliver on the front line within all of our gym settings. These will be supported by our highly trained staff but by enabling the young people to lead the way it will allow them to gain a unique once in a life chance to gain accelerated experience and give them life skills and knowledge by enrolling them on full time education programs / national governing body qualifications to set them on their way.
What changes for the customer:
One thing we pride ourselves on is the quality and friendliness of the service that we provide our customers. This will not change as our experienced, qualified staff will always be on hand to support our customers.
You will see more staff on our sites, these will all bring different qualities, knowledge and passions and will support our customers to reach their potential.
Our prices have been reduced to enable more people to access our gyms.
………………
How it works for older adults (aged 19+)
The young people and experienced staff will be on hand to give any support required to help over come barriers to participation, enable you to reach goals or simply be on hand to discuss your worries / how your day has been. We can enrol you on a course which focuses on making positive changes with your lifestyle to enable you to progress and be ready for the labour market, this also allows participants to access a free 3 months gym membership additional support package.
On top of this we offer a wide range of courses which can be accessed via our online portal and completed in your own time. These courses will enable you to develop your knowledge, skills while training in the gyms and keeping your mind active and healthy. Anyone who is a full member of one of gyms will be able to access a minimum of 50% off any course for the next 9 months.
We are looking for other charities and local organisations who are passionate about supporting young people and adults within the local area to enable them to stay positive and focused while with all work our way through this pandemic. We would ask for donations to support our program and enable us to support as many people as possible. These do not have to be money donations but can also be equipment, time, opportunities. 100% of any donation will be used within the program and you organisation will be credited for their generosity
Just by being a member of our gym you are helping the local people to gain experience, knowledge and skills as all profits are recycled into our new train to re-train program
